A Celebration of 50 Years of Flyfishing

Tiers, to your vises! Clark-Skamania Flyfishers has many talented fly tiers and fishers. To celebrate the club’s 50th anniversary, with your support, we will digitally publish a compendium of the flies we tie and use in our home waters and beyond.

The purpose of the project is to share our talent and learnings with fellow and future members and the broader flyfishing community.

This is an open call to all current and past members of the club to take part in this endeavor. Hurry! The deadline for participation is July 1, 2025.

How to Participate

To take part simply fill out the on-line form. Submit one form for each fly you wish to be considered for publication. For photos, mail to the address below one (1) fly ( preferably two) for each pattern. Flies cannot be returned. They will, however, be auctioned with attribution within the club. Proceeds will be dedicated to the CSF Conservation Fund.

Submit as many flies/ patterns as you like. Ideally, they should be tied by you or have a significant connection to a current or past member. Provide a brief story about the fly’s importance, its effectiveness on local waters, the design process, or memorable fishing experiences, etc. Our members fish the planet, so do not be limited to local only patterns. We want to see patterns for the OP, Canada, Mexico, etc. And do not limit yourself to exotic recipes. If a 2xl Olive Woolly Bugger is your go to, submit.

Process

The deadline for entries is July 1, 2025. Bonus points for early entrants. Once closed, the process of photographing flies and editing copy will start. The “book” will be digitally published. All those who take part will receive a copy. A broader distribution policy for those outside the club will be developed.

Questions

Yes. I expect questions and will publish a continually updated FAQ found here. Check the FAQ and if your question is not answered, I can be reached at Bart@BartPhillips.com .
